Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Condo could be acquired at Phillips in New York in November this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art, Evening Sale Part II auction, the work Eyes Wide Open changed hands for USD 1,391,000.00 (€ 1,275,210.85) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Condo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nude and Forms in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,162,500.00 (€ 5,280,634.10).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Condo konnte im November diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art, Evening Sale Part II wechselte die Arbeit Eyes Wide Open für USD 1.391.000,00 (€ 1.275.210,85) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.500.000,00 – 2.000.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Condo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nude and Forms im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.162.500,00 (€ 5.280.634,10).
