This artwork by George Condo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May this year. In the Masterpieces from the S.I. Newhouse Collection auction, the work Portrait Composition in Blue and Grey sold for USD 2,712,000.00 (€ 2,545,522.81) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Condo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nude and Forms, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 6,162,500.00 (€ 5,280,634.10).

Dieses Kunstwerk von George Condo erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Masterpieces from the S.I. Newhouse Collection wurde die Arbeit Portrait Composition in Blue and Grey für USD 2.712.000,00 (€ 2.545.522,81) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Condo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nude and Forms beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für USD 6.162.500,00 (€ 5.280.634,10) versteigert wurde.
