Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ondessonk by Georges Mathieu was sold in the Impressionist and Modern, Post-War and Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in February 2001. It changed hands for a price of USD 9,400.00 (€ 10,204.08) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georges Mathieu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tuz Gölü in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 18,325,000.00 (€ 2,038,402.44).

Die Arbeit Ondessonk von Georges Mathieu wurde im Februar 2001 in der Auktion Impressionist and Modern, Post-War and Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 9.400,00 (€ 10.204,08) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Georges Mathieu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tuz Gölü im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 18.325.000,00 (€ 2.038.402,44).
