Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2007 Christies in London held the auction British & Continental Watercolours, which included the work A horseman near Aviemore by Gertrude Martineau. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 420.00 (€ 622.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Gertrude Martineau have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset on Sark, Channel Islands in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,872.13).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British & Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit A horseman near Aviemore von Gertrude Martineau zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 420,00 (€ 622,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gertrude Martineau auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunset on Sark, Channel Islands im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.872,13).
