Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work A river landscape with a conifer in the foreground by Gertrude Martineau was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 300.00 (€ 348.52). Admittedly, works by Gertrude Martineau have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset on Sark, Channel Islands in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,872.13).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit A river landscape with a conifer in the foreground von Gertrude Martineau im September 2011 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 300,00 (€ 348,52) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gertrude Martineau auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunset on Sark, Channel Islands im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.872,13).
