Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Henri Matisse by Gisèle Freund was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 378.00 (€ 309.99). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gisèle Freund achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les Mains De Suzana Soka [Sic!', 1938 'James Joyce Avec La Loupe', 1939 'Virginia Wolf', 1939 'Samuel Beckett, Paris', 1964|AID157746] in November 2014 with an auction result of EUR 6,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Henri Matisse von Gisèle Freund im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 378,00 (€ 309,99) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gisèle Freund erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Les Mains De Suzana Soka [Sic!', 1938 'James Joyce Avec La Loupe', 1939 'Virginia Wolf', 1939 'Samuel Beckett, Paris', 1964|AID157746] im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 6.000,00.
