Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A night view of trains; together with a companion photograph, Union Pacific Overland Locomotive by Gordon Coster was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 900.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of USD 937.00 (€ 673.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Gordon Coster have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bicycle Racer in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,066.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A night view of trains; together with a companion photograph, Union Pacific Overland Locomotive von Gordon Coster kam im Dezember 2008 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 900,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 937,00 (€ 673,18) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gordon Coster auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bicycle Racer im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.875,00 (€ 6.066,89).
