Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bicycle Racer by Gordon Coster was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,625.00 (€ 4,777.48). Other works by Gordon Coster have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2018 by the work Bicycle Racer at USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,066.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Bicycle Racer von Gordon Coster im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.625,00 (€ 4.777,48) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Gordon Coster wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Oktober 2018 die Arbeit Bicycle Racer mit USD 6.875,00 (€ 6.066,89).
