Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait Présumé De Tony Marlet by Gustave Courbet was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2020. Here, the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 55,000.00 (€ 49,580.82). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Courbet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Femme Nue Couchée in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 15,285,000.00 (€ 14,471,690.97).
