Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Charles Jourdan, shoe campaign, Spring, 1979 by Guy Bourdin was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,053.59). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Guy Bourdin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French Vogue, March 1972 in May 2017 with an auction result of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 57,427.02).
