Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Selected Abstractions by György Kepes was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,181.52). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by György Kepes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2020 for USD 23,825.00 (€ 21,467.83).
