Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Masque by Henri Matisse was sold in the Modern Edition auction at Christies in New York in December 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,639.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Masque von Henri Matisse wurde im Dezember 2017 in der Auktion Modern Edition bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.639,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Matisse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Odalisque couchée aux magnolias im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.750.000,00 (€ 69.194.515,85).
