Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Seated Figure by Henry Moore was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 912,500.00 (€ 781,919.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Moore achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reclining Figure: Festival in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 24,722,500.00 (€ 29,675,067.53).
