In October 2013 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Cuzco Children (Neg. 263), Peru, Dec., 1948 by Irving Penn. The »bidding war« ended at USD 62,500.00 (€ 45,976.17), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Irving Penn have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Woman in Moroccan Palace (Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn), 1951 in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 361,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cuzco Children (Neg. 263), Peru, Dec., 1948 von Irving Penn zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 45.976,17) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Irving Penn auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Woman in Moroccan Palace (Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn), 1951 im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 361.000,00.
