Auction result misses estimated price range
In March this year a collector was able to acquire the work Street at Saverne, from Twelve etchings from Nature (The French Set) by James Abbott McNeill Whistler for GBP 357.00 (€ 406.16). This price was achieved in the auction Pictures and Prints Online at Bonhams and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Whistler Smoking in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,200,000.00 (€ 1,063,170.02).
