Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jan Weenix could be acquired at Christies in London in May this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work Portrait of an elegantly dressed young woman in an interior, full-length, her right hand resting on a stone ledge with an Oriental carpet and a bowl of fruit, with a white cockatoo and a garden beyond changed hands for USD 13,860.00 (€ 13,009.20) - missing the lo Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Weenix achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A sunflower, roses, parrot tulips, a carnation and other flowers in a glass vase on a partly draped marble table in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 135,750.00 (€ 219,505.96).
