Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2020 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California, which included the work Untitled, 1966 by John Altoon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,450.00 (€ 3,797.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Altoon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trip No. 2 in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 61,752.07).
