Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Wheatfield by John Carroll was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 750.00 (€ 547.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Carroll achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Champions in March 2006 with an auction result of USD 31,200.00 (€ 25,702.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Wheatfield von John Carroll im Juni 2014 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 750,00 (€ 547,85) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Carroll erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Champions im März 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 31.200,00 (€ 25.702,28).
