In November 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings, which included the work Saint Peter by John Singleton Copley. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,273.89), 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Singleton Copley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of James Tilley (1707-1765) in January 2006 with an auction result of USD 374,400.00 (€ 307,945.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im November 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint Peter von John Singleton Copley zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 13.273,89) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Singleton Copley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of James Tilley (1707-1765) im Januar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 374.400,00 (€ 307.945,39).
