Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Tres piezas by Josep Maria Subirachs was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at USD 22,680.00 (€ 21,524.15). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Josep Maria Subirachs; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot L'Architecture sold at auction in April last year with the realized price of USD 40,320.00 (€ 38,265.16).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Tres piezas von Josep Maria Subirachs im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 22.680,00 (€ 21.524,15) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Josep Maria Subirachs; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit L'Architecture im April letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 40.320,00 (€ 38.265,16).
