Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work The Owen Potter in two positions by Joseph Heard for USD 14,340.00 (€ 14,638.63). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Heard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, c. 1840, which sold at auction in April last year for GBP 31,800.00 (€ 37,920.38).

Im Juli 2002 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The Owen Potter in two positions von Joseph Heard für USD 14.340,00 (€ 14.638,63) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Maritime bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Joseph Heard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, c. 1840 beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für GBP 31.800,00 (€ 37.920,38) versteigert wurde.
