Auction result fails to reach estimate
When the work “Tantrika 1” by Karel Appel was auctioned at Bruun Rasmussen in Modern art and design in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously set the estimate at DKK 10,000.00, but this failed to be met - in fact, the artwork changed hands for DKK 8,000.00 (€ 1,072.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karel Appel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two birds and a Flower in December 2012 with an auction result of EUR 841,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt den Schätzpreis
Als die Arbeit “Tantrika 1” von Karel Appel im September diesen Jahres bei Bruun Rasmussen in Modern art and design versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit DKK 10.000,00 angegeben, den dieses Werk bei seiner Versteigerung leider nicht erreichen konnte - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für DKK 8.000,00 (€ 1.072,56) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Karel Appel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two birds and a Flower im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 841.000,00.
