Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Kurt Schwitters achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2015. In the Impressionist/Modern Works on Paper auction, the work Mz 193 sold for GBP 434,500.00 (€ 599,110.97) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kurt Schwitters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ja - Was? - Bild in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 13,970,500.00 (€ 17,455,471.33).
