This artwork by Lee Bontecou achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2021. In the 20th Century Evening Sale auction, the work without title sold for USD 9,176,500.00 (€ 8,130,149.73) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lee Bontecou; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot without title sold at auction in May this year with the realized price of USD 8,690,000.00 (€ 8,156,560.92).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Lee Bontecou erzielte im November 2021 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 9.176.500,00 (€ 8.130.149,73) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 4.000.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Lee Bontecou; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 8.690.000,00 (€ 8.156.560,92).
