Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Leon Golub was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,472.32). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leon Golub achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work White Squad X in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 197,000.00 (€ 158,385.59).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Leon Golub im Januar 2013 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.000,00 (€ 1.472,32) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leon Golub erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit White Squad X im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 197.000,00 (€ 158.385,59).
