This artwork by Léon Spilliaert achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Paris in June 2020. In the Oeuvres sur Papier auction, the work Marine sold for EUR 52,500.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Léon Spilliaert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Digue et plage, Chalet Royal et galeries d'Ostende in March last year with an auction result of EUR 504,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Léon Spilliaert erzielte im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Oeuvres sur Papier wurde die Arbeit Marine für EUR 52.500,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Léon Spilliaert auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Digue et plage, Chalet Royal et galeries d'Ostende im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 504.000,00.
