Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Christies in Paris held the auction Oeuvres Modernes sur papier, which included the work Un homme et une femme s'abritant sous une voute des Drie Gapers, Ostende by Léon Spilliaert. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 131,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Léon Spilliaert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Digue et plage, Chalet Royal et galeries d'Ostende, which sold at auction in March last year for EUR 504,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Oeuvres Modernes sur papier durch, in der auch die Arbeit Un homme et une femme s'abritant sous une voute des Drie Gapers, Ostende von Léon Spilliaert zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 131.250,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Léon Spilliaert mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Digue et plage, Chalet Royal et galeries d'Ostende beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für EUR 504.000,00 versteigert wurde.
