In April 2014 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Contemporary Asian Art, which included the work Seeing Shadow No.C-12 by Lin Tianmiao. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 237,500.00 (€ 22,089.04), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lin Tianmiao - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Initiator, which sold at auction in April 2008 for HKD 967,500.00 (€ 79,734.23).

Im April 2014 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Contemporary Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seeing Shadow No.C-12 von Lin Tianmiao zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 237.500,00 (€ 22.089,04) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Lin Tianmiao mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Initiator beobachtet, die im April 2008 für HKD 967.500,00 (€ 79.734,23) versteigert wurde.
