Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Clouds, Cactus and Sun by Loie Hollowell was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 3,000,000.00 – 4,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 2,540,000.00 (€ 307,165.03). Admittedly, works by Loie Hollowell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Linked Lingams (yellow, green, blue, purple, pink) in June 2021 with an auction result of HKD 16,510,000.00 (€ 1,793,414.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Clouds, Cactus and Sun von Loie Hollowell im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 3.000.000,00 – 4.000.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 2.540.000,00 (€ 307.165,03) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Loie Hollowell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Linked Lingams (yellow, green, blue, purple, pink) im Juni 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 16.510.000,00 (€ 1.793.414,08).
