LOUISE BOURGEOIS (1911-2010) "Ex Libris", bookplate from the illustrated book, Recueil des Secrets de Louyse Bourgeois , deluxe edition offset lithograph in colours with an embossed plate mark, 2005, on wove paper, initialed and numbered 28/40 in pencil, from the deluxe edition of the book (there were also 15 artist's proofs of the deluxe book, and a trade edition of 300), published by Salon Verlag, Cologne, lacking the book Image 100 x 68 mm. Sheet 118 x 81 mm.
Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work "Ex Libris", bookplate from the illustrated book, Recueil des Secrets de Louyse Bourgeois, deluxe edition by Louise Bourgeois was auctioned at Christies in London in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 630.00 (€ 716.75). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louise Bourgeois achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spider in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 32,055,000.00 (€ 28,751,457.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit "Ex Libris", bookplate from the illustrated book, Recueil des Secrets de Louyse Bourgeois, deluxe edition von Louise Bourgeois im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 630,00 (€ 716,75) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louise Bourgeois erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Spider im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.055.000,00 (€ 28.751.457,53).
