Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Louisville Flood Red Cross Relief Station, Louisville, K. Y. by Margaret Bourke-White was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,276.00 (€ 2,678.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Margaret Bourke-White achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flood Refugees, Louisville, Kentucky in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 400,000.00 (€ 357,110.97).
