Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Showa era (1926-1989), 1927-1929 by Natori Shunsen was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 956.25 (€ 816.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Natori Shunsen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sosaku hanga shunsen nigao-e gashu (Creative prints: collected portrait-pictures by Shunsen) in March 2001 with an auction result of USD 25,850.00 (€ 29,395.04).
