Auction result misses estimated price range

This work of art by Nukina Kaioku could be acquired at Christies in New York in April 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the An Inquiring Mind: American Collecting of Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Paired Calligraphies: Ripening Tea and Vast and Calm, 1841 changed hands for USD 1,625.00 (€ 1,455.83) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nukina Kaioku - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Winter landscape, which sold at auction in March 2003 for USD 5,736.00 (€ 5,262.39).
