In March last year Christies in London held the auction The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale, which included the work Le soir tombe by Paul Delvaux. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,902,000.00 (€ 2,255,035.07), 27% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Paul Delvaux have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Miroir in February 2016 with an auction result of GBP 7,317,000.00 (€ 9,375,831.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 27 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Le soir tombe von Paul Delvaux zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.902.000,00 (€ 2.255.035,07) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul Delvaux auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Miroir im Februar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.317.000,00 (€ 9.375.831,98).
