Artwork auctioned at six times the pre-set estimate
When the work Cottage and boundary post on the Spaarendammerdijk (‘L’Obelisque’) by Rembrandt van Rijn was auctioned at Bruun Rasmussen in August this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - price of DKK 10,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at DKK 60,000.00 (€ 8,048.71). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rembrandt van Rijn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 19,803,750.00 (€ 31,547,196.55).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Cottage and boundary post on the Spaarendammerdijk (‘L’Obelisque’) von Rembrandt van Rijn im August diesen Jahres bei Bruun Rasmussen versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – DKK 10.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit DKK 60.000,00 (€ 8.048,71) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rembrandt van Rijn erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 19.803.750,00 (€ 31.547.196,55).
