Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2009 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern+Contemporary Art, which included the work A Man Committing Suicide by Riyas Komu. The price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 42,720.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Riyas Komu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Designated March of a Petro - Angel (or Desert March), which sold at auction in September 2008 for USD 146,500.00 (€ 104,040.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2009 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern+Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Man Committing Suicide von Riyas Komu zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 42.720,44) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Riyas Komu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Designated March of a Petro - Angel (or Desert March) beobachtet, die im September 2008 für USD 146.500,00 (€ 104.040,91) versteigert wurde.
