Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Étude pour "La Ville de Paris" by Robert Delaunay was auctioned at Christies in Paris in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 3,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Delaunay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tour Eiffel in February 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,737,250.00 (€ 4,462,375.53).
