Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'Goldmine, Serra Pelada (figure eight), Brazil', 1986 by Sebastião Salgado was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2021. The price achieved of GBP 15,120.00 (€ 17,752.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Sebastião Salgado have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Serra Pelada, Gold Mine, Brazil' in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 126,000.00 (€ 104,738.15).
