Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Timothy Curtis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2021. In the Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Faces In The Smoke (Sci Somerset) sold for HKD 567,000.00 (€ 60,706.23) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Timothy Curtis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Infinity Faces sold at auction in June last year with the realized price of HKD 504,000.00 (€ 61,333.08).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Timothy Curtis erzielte im April 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Faces In The Smoke (Sci Somerset) für HKD 567.000,00 (€ 60.706,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 200.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Timothy Curtis; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Infinity Faces im Juni letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 504.000,00 (€ 61.333,08).
