In October 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work 'Monument Making (From Pictures Of Chocolate)' by Vik Muniz. The »bidding war« ended at USD 37,500.00 (€ 26,887.50), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vik Muniz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sugar Children: Valentina, The Fastest; Jacynthe Loves Orange Juice; Big James Sweats Buckets; Lil' Calist Can'T Swim; Valicia Bathes In Sunday Clothes; Ten Ten'S Weed Necklace in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 293,000.00 (€ 277,409.58).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 26.887,50) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vik Muniz erzielen.
