The work Orphan Man by Vincent van Gogh was sold in the Impressionist, Modern & Surrealist Art Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in February 2020. It achieved a price of GBP 735,000.00 (€ 851,866.67), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 47%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vincent van Gogh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Verger avec cyprès in November last year with an auction result of USD 117,180,000.00 (€ 113,513,513.51).

Die Arbeit Orphan Man von Vincent van Gogh wurde im Februar 2020 in der Auktion Impressionist, Modern & Surrealist Art Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 735.000,00 (€ 851.866,67) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 47%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vincent van Gogh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Verger avec cyprès im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 117.180.000,00 (€ 113.513.513,51).
