Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Vue de l’asile et de la Chapelle Saint-Paul de Mausole (Saint-Rémy) by Vincent van Gogh was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 35,000,000.00 – 55,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 39,687,500.00 (€ 34,008,140.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vincent van Gogh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Verger avec cyprès, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 117,180,000.00 (€ 113,513,513.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Vue de l’asile et de la Chapelle Saint-Paul de Mausole (Saint-Rémy) von Vincent van Gogh kam im Mai 2018 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 35.000.000,00 – 55.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 39.687.500,00 (€ 34.008.140,53) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Vincent van Gogh mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Verger avec cyprès beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 117.180.000,00 (€ 113.513.513,51) versteigert wurde.
