Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Citizen In Downtown Havana by Walker Evans was sold in the Photographies auction at Sothebys in Paris in May 2012. It changed hands for a price of EUR 5,625.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walker Evans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Penny Picture Display, Savannah in October 2003 with an auction result of USD 197,900.00 (€ 170,471.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Citizen In Downtown Havana von Walker Evans wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion Photographies bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 5.625,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walker Evans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Penny Picture Display, Savannah im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 197.900,00 (€ 170.471,19).
