Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price

The work "Fang" (Self-Portrait) by Wang Fangyu was worth USD 1,250.00 (€ 881.34) to a buyer in March 2011. This price was achieved in the auction Magnificent Qing Monochrome Porcelains and Earlier Works of Art from the Gordon Collection at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 400.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Wang Fangyu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cold Mountain in September 2020 with an auction result of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,400.41).
