Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Rock And Calligraphy by Wang Fangyu was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 375.00 (€ 264.40). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Fangyu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cold Mountain in September 2020 with an auction result of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,400.41).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Rock And Calligraphy von Wang Fangyu im März 2011 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 375,00 (€ 264,40) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Fangyu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Cold Mountain im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.400,41).
