Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fudge Cakes by Wayne Thiebaud was auctioned at Christies in New York in May this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,107,000.00 (€ 1,977,660.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Wayne Thiebaud have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Encased Cakes in July last year with an auction result of HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Fudge Cakes von Wayne Thiebaud kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.107.000,00 (€ 1.977.660,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Encased Cakes im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84).
