Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of the Dog of Homѐre et son guide by William-Adolphe Bouguereau was sold in the Master Paintings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The price achieved of USD 35,280.00 (€ 29,072.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William-Adolphe Bouguereau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Jeunesse De Bacchus in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 20,766,000.00 (€ 18,625,885.73).

Die Arbeit Study of the Dog of Homѐre et son guide von William-Adolphe Bouguereau wurde im Januar 2021 in der Auktion Master Paintings Part II bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 35.280,00 (€ 29.072,93) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William-Adolphe Bouguereau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Jeunesse De Bacchus im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.766.000,00 (€ 18.625.885,73).
