When the work Cathédrale D'Orléans, 1843Salt Paper Print From A Calotype Paper Negative. by William Henry Fox Talbot was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in November 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 29,550.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Fox Talbot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,956,000.00 (€ 1,625,935.16).

Als die Arbeit Cathédrale D'Orléans, 1843Salt Paper Print From A Calotype Paper Negative. von William Henry Fox Talbot im November 2011 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 29.550,00 den Besitzer.
