Auction result misses estimated price range
In April this year a collector was able to acquire the work Yellow Bath House and Sailboat, Bellport, Long Island by William James Glackens for USD 239,400.00 (€ 216,847.83). This price was achieved in the auction Modern American Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William James Glackens - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Café Lafayette (Portrait of Kay Laurell), which sold at auction in November 2018 for USD 792,500.00 (€ 699,902.85).
