Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for ‘The Sailor’s Return' by William Roberts was sold in the Modern British Art auction at Christies in London in September 2020. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,513.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Roberts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Chess Players in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,161,250.00 (€ 1,446,866.41).
